Farm Fresh Superpremium Eggs

Our all natural eggs come from hens that are free to roam as they desire during the day.  Our hens are heritage breeds with the exception of a few Turkens (a/k/a Transylvanian Naked Necks).  The heritage breeds we currently have are Barred Plymouth Rock, Partridge Cochin, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Americana, and Cuckoo Maran.

Their diet consists of foraging on our farm, where none of their pastures are treated with any chemical herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers whatsoever.  The hens’ diet is supplemented only with non-soy, verified non-GMO, certified organic feed.  In addition, the hens enjoy eating organic, non-GMO herbs, fruits, and vegetables, including straight from the plants in our own planter boxes!

Our hens drink water fresh from 480 feet down in the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer.  Their water is served only in glass dishes.  We do not use any plastic feeders or waterers.

Finally, we never administer or feed our chickens antibiotics or other drugs, or any other artificial substances.  They are healthy and happy.

Enjoy them in good health!

NUTRITIONAL FACTS AND TIPS

Studies have shown that pasture-raised eggs, compared to conventional eggs, have:

Two times more omega-3 fatty acids.

Three times more Vitamin E

Seven times more beta carotene - converts to Vitamin A

Most recently noted, 4-6 times more Vitamin D

Produce positive HDL (“good” cholesterol) and lower “bad” triglycerides

Tip: Fresh eggs have less air inside the shell.  Older eggs have a larger cell of air, allowing for easier peeling, so use older (at least one week from purchase) eggs for hard-boiling.

Regarding your eggs’ expiration date, commercially-purchased eggs may be at least 21 days old before they are processed and packed, and then may take another month to market, so they can be quite old by the time they are used.  Sad!  When you buy your eggs from us, they have just been hatched and collected within the last 7 days, so you may conservatively place their expiration date at least one month or more from the time you get them.  They also have not been washed or refrigerated, thereby keeping the natural “bloom” sealing the eggs and keeping them safe from spoilage, as is done in most countries around the world.  You may place them in the fridge and rinse with cold water before using.
